5 Reasons Why I Always Hire An Assistant
As a DJ, having an assistant for each wedding and event is a no brainer. While others might think having an extra set of hands is overkill, I find it invaluable. It’s impossible for me to be in two places at once. Throughout a wedding, an assist will:
Help with setup, sound check and breakdown.
Field song requests from guests that are coming up to the DJ booth so my train of thought isn’t interrupted constantly. I can’t read the room if Aunt Sandra is asking for every Earth, Wind & Fire hit.
Let the photographer know when we plan to change the lighting so they can switch lenses in advance.
Notify the venue staff when someone breaks a glass on the dance floor that needs cleaned up or if another issue arises.
Keep things under control so I can momentarily step away to check in with the couple and connect with the planner.
This list isn’t comprehensive by any means but highlights just some of the ways an assistant can support a DJ during an event. My clients and their guests deserve my full attention on their special day, and having a trustworthy and skilled assistant is another additional step I am happy to take to ensure a seamless and unforgettable celebration for all.
