Top Takeaways From RSVP Club Istanbul

Working in Mexico and the Maldives has encouraged me to approach new experiences differently and pursue more opportunities abroad. Traveling twelve time zones, working on a remote island, being adaptable to various equipment and spaces I’ve never seen before helped answer the looming question of whether I would actually enjoy DJing internationally. This newfound inspiration led me to accept an exclusive invitation from RSVP Club travel to Istanbul for their spring symposia.

In March, I found myself immersed in an unforgettable journey in Turkey. Seated to my left was a luxury wedding planner from Singapore and to my right was a DJ from the UK. The RSVP Istanbul Symposium brought together the top luxury event experts from every corner of the world for four days of inspiring keynotes, non-stop networking, invaluable insights on topics many have yet to explore for our industry and endless displays of creativity. As a first-time attendee, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Every breakout session, boat ride or breathtaking dinner exposed me to new cultures, new people and new ideas. Everyone in the room was united by our desire to not only create unforgettable events for our clients, but to craft unique experiences that transcend borders. Here are my top takeaways:

  • Different generations communicate differently - Sarah Young Events

  • There is still a U in trust. Trust and distrust are both contagious. - Duncan Perry

  • Reputation is everything. - Nadia Duran

  • Always apologize and own your mistakes. - Le Reve Events

  • When you’re honest, you’re managing expectations. - Pink Iceland

  • Think about all of the 5 senses. - B. Worley Productions

When I found out the theme was trust, I was curious to hear how top-tier professionals would explore this topic and tie it back to the events industry. Trust has always been big for me. My couples trust in my capabilities. My trust in myself to start a business and then take it bi-coastal during a global pandemic.

Some additional thoughts I had after RSVP Club:

  • I love Europeans and get along really well with them. All of the attendees were incredibly gracious and I appreciated that nobody took themselves too seriously. Looking forward to keeping up with all my new friends and some potential collaborations in the future.

  • Istanbul is a cool city with crazy traffic. Highly recommend adding it to your future travel destinations.

The amount of inspiration from this trip has me feeling invigorated and confident to start pursuing more international gigs. Grateful for the opportunity to connect with fellow visionaries and learn from the industry’s brightest minds. Here’s to new connections, endless possibilities and the magic of far away destinations that inspire.
