Top Takeaways: The DJ Collective
It’s hard to put into words the magic that happens when you get 180+ creatives together. Still digesting all the incredible insights and thinking about all of the remarkably talented DJs I had the privilege of connecting with at The DJ Collective. If you’re not familiar with DJC, the easiest way to explain it is hundreds of DJs from around the world gather to learn and grow with the common goal to advance our skills and the industry. Earth-shattering conversations take place that change not only the way you think, but how you run your business.
The energy at every event from this year’s annual conference was next level, the speakers were thought-provoking and the knowledge shared is going to help our industry evolve in exciting ways. This year a reoccurring theme was how you are bettering yourself. While some might consider working more events and having an additional year under your belt as the primary ways to improve their craft, I completely disagree. If anything, I would argue this model makes people worse because they aren’t learning any new skills and are thus falling behind.
Attending The DJ Collective is just one of the many ways I continually invest in my development, learn about new techniques and technologies to improve my craft and brainstorm ways to improve my business. Each DJ attending is so different in terms of how they DJ, how they talk on the mic, their target client, the way they run their company, etc. They all brings a fresh perspective and personal experiences that are invaluable. A big takeaway for me was how I can refine my processes and continue to fine tune my skills. Check out my highlight Reel from DJC.
As much as I get from the experience, I also try to give back by sharing freely and spreading what wisdom I can. I was beyond honored to speak on a panel and answer question for the 48+ first-time attendees. Can’t wait to attend DJC again in 2024.
