How I Continually Develop My DJ Skill Set

I’ve been passionate about music for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I vividly recall listening to records for hours on end, replaying the greatest songs ever made until they were committed to my memory. My music education has never ended, and neither has my commitment to honing my craft.

Despite having been in the music industry for more than 15 years and a decade of owning my business, learning and growing has never been more important to me. Being complacent just isn’t part of how I am wired.

Music, and DJing, is constantly evolving. I take it upon myself to be up to date with trends and challenge myself to always try new things. One of the main ways I build on my knowledge base is by being involved with and attending the premiere conferences for wedding and event professionals.

  • Next month, I’ll be attending my fourth Engage Summit. This four-day summit brings together 500 of the best and brightest people in the industry. I couldn’t be more excited to be reunited with old friends and meet new creative minds.

  • Each fall, I attend The DJ Collective. This three-day conference is packed full of engaging conversations and talks from experts. It also presents countless opportunities to observe and showcase the immense talent and creativity of DJs from across the world.

  • Year-round, I’m honored to serve on the International Board of Directors for WIPA, the Wedding Industry Professionals Association.

These are just a few of the ways I am continually advancing my skill set. As an added bonus to my clients, I’ll be an even better DJ when your wedding comes around than when you hired me. So if you think you love me now, just wait.
