Three Ways 2022 Weddings Are Different
While marriage and wedding traditions have stood the test of time, the celebration continues to evolve in new and exciting ways. In 2021, we saw the largest shifts in the event industry to enable everyone to safely gather. Weddings taking place this year have begun to skew more towards the big parties we all know and love. However, you might notice a few differences when you throw (or attend) your next wedding that reflect the current culture we’re living in.
1. Expect Less Dancing and More Meaningful Conversations
Nobody has seen each other in two years, so socializing will be at an all time high! Cocktail hour, dinner and the early evening will be filled with chatter as people rejoice and catch up. Don’t worry if the dance floor is not packed; people are still enjoying themselves! It’s likely people will flock to the dance floor later in the evening so the dancing might just get going as the reception is coming to a close. I would highly consider extending your reception an extra hour.
2. Present Day Pop Music Might Not Be The Move
Over the past five years, all the major names in music have been putting out what I like to call “breakup songs.” Everyone from Adele and The Weekend to Olivia Rodrigo and Justin Bieber have been contributing tracks and entire albums of sad songs. Don’t believe me? Peruse the Billboard Hot 100 list and let me know how many love songs you find.
3. People Want To Party!
Your guests want a big party, even if they aren’t typical “party” people. Now more than ever, guests are looking forward to a big event and production. Hybrid entertainment (a live musician paired with a DJ) is a great way to keep the energy up and guests entertained throughout the evening.
